Some users have reported an inability to open Google Docs in Canvas even when they have properly authorized Google in Canvas. Canvas and Google worked on a fix for this. For some users, the Google LTI may need to be deleted, then re-added for the fix to take place. Instructions for this process can be found below.
Step 1 - Remove Google Drive as a Registered Service in Canvas
This step is to remove Google Drive as a registered service in Canvas.
In Canvas, go to Account (Profile icon in the red navigation menu) > Settings > under Registered Services find Google Drive in the list > hover over it and click the red “x” that appears.
Step 2 - Remove Google Drive LTI IAD-Prod as an Approved Integration in Canvas
The next step is to remove Google Drive LTI IAD-Prod as an approved integration for your account in Canvas.
In Canvas, go to Account > Settings > under Approved Integrations > find the integration called Google Drive LTI IAD-Prod or any with Google Drive in the name > click the trash can icon to the right of the integration name.
Step 3 - (Applies to Some Users) - Sign Out of Google Drive in Canvas
Navigate to a course in Canvas that has "Google Drive" in the navigation menu (not all classes include this link). Click to load your Google Drive. Close the popup window displaying your files. Near the top right corner, click the "Sign Out" button to sign out of Google Drive inside of Canvas.
Then attempt to access a document and re-authorize Google Drives access to their Canvas account.
